Fuel Plugin

The Fuel Plugin in OpenRMS plays a crucial role in managing the fuel and fuel usage for slot cars, adding a strategic dimension to the racing experience. It allows for realistic fuel management similar to what you would encounter in actual motorsport events.

To activate or deactivate the Fuel Plugin, adjust the following in the configuration file:

While the plugin is enabled, the fuel settings for each car can be individually configured. These settings are initially defined under the defaults section and can be specifically overridden for each car in the car.cars[] section.

Each field in the fuel configuration serves a specific purpose:

  • tank-size: Determines the total fuel capacity of the car’s tank.

  • starting-fuel: Sets the initial amount of fuel in the car at the start of the race.

  • burn-rate: Defines how quickly fuel is consumed when the car is at maximum power.

  • flow-rate: Specifies the speed at which the car is refueled during pit stops.

By adjusting these settings, you can tailor the fuel strategy for each car, affecting overall race strategy and the dynamics of pit stops.
